FAQs
-
High achieving individuals with complex family dynamics, estrangement, and estrangedrelationships often go unsupported and unnoticed. They can appear to have it all together on the outside because they are performing well at work, while also be carrying a lot of hidden pain. This group of people are also often judged harshly by those who learn of their no contact status.
-
Estrangement means an individual has made the difficult decision to discontinue contact with one or more relatives.
-
Individuals who consider estrangement are often becoming more clear on what they can and cannot tolerate, and do not believe this can be honoured by their relative(s). They often wish things were different, usually persist for years for change, and no contact is their last option for survival.
-
Individuals who consider or experience estrangement often experience intense feelings of loss, deep sadness, anger, and the reemergence of old wounds.
-
Individuals who consider no contact are often stigmatized by a society that emphasizes family above all else, while ignoring the complex dynamics that may have led to this decision.
-
While exact numbers are difficult to determine, we know that it is becoming more common for individuals to go no contact.
-
Recovering from old wounds and figuring out who they are outside of these relationships can help individuals who go no contact.
-
High achievers experience both perfectionism, anxiety, not enough-ness while also juggling complex family dynamics. They appear functional and together on the outside and their hidden pain goes unnoticed.
-
Trauma interventions help individuals who go no contact by addressing what can be a lifetime of pain, rejection and abandonment that led to the decision to go no contact
-
Most individuals experience a deep sense of loss when they go no contact or become estranged from family. They need to grieve the loss of the life with their family they had hoped for.
