About Gillian Daniel MSW RSW
I have been studying and practicing effective mental health treatments for 21 years (13 years post masters graduation, 8 years during university education) in various settings including healthcare, corrections, victim services and community outreach. I proudly served in mandated settings and also in clinical settings with at risk youth and adults. For four years, I facilitated group treatment with the Sex Offender Treatment Program, and contributed to safer communities.
During the last 10 years of my career, I have independently developed, operated, and maintained a successful community practice for patients of a local family health team, focusing on treatment for mental health with teenagers and adults. In this role, I also provide supervision to masters students from various universities as they prepare for clinical service. Additionally, I have sat on various committees that produce free community resources to promote resilience and recovery.
I formed Illuminate Psychotherapy Services in 2023 to focus primarily on high achieving adults considering, questioning, maintaining, or recovering from estrangement / no contact. This may be you if you are highly functional on the outside while privately struggling with family dynamics, grief, guilt, or the emotional fallout of estrangement. As a high achiever, you experience perfectionism, burnout, as well as family stress including difficulty with boundary setting, familial rejection and pressure. You struggle with who you are following family estrangement.
I can help you with boundary setting, perfectionism, feeling not good enough, feeling rejected, and in discovering who you are now following family estrangement. With various trauma focused methods, we can alleviate old wounds, cope with triggers, and work through grief for what has been lost.
I will hold space for the things that you can't tell anyone else. You can come here, take the mask off, and confront the worst things you feel.
Sincerely,
Gillian Daniel
